South Carolina authorities execute George Stinney Jr., for the murder of two white girls

June 16, 1944: South Carolina authorities executed George Stinney Jr., a 90-pound, 14-year-old Black boy for the murder of two white girls. Despite a lack of evidence, an all-white jury deliberated for 10 minutes before convicting Stinney of the murders.
