Mary Turner

May 18, 1918: When a white mob lynched her innocent husband for the murder of a white plantation owner, Mary Turner, eight months pregnant, threatened to go to the police. The following day, a mob tied her upside down from a tree, cut her unborn baby from her womb, stomped the fetus to death when it fell to the ground crying, then riddled Turner with scores of gunshots and set her on fire.
